Djim Berger started his study at the Design Academy in 2003. Not knowing what it would have in store for him. He felt it was the direction he had to go in. It’s in your childhood where you find your passion. Experimenting with materials and techniques is the main subject in his work. Starting from his personal vision these experiments grow out to be functional designs. This is mainly done in the Pastoor van Ars church where Atelierdorp is located wich he founded three years ago together with Hilbert Tjalkens, Vera Teunen, Otje Bastiaansen and Rocco Verdult. Soon to be occupied by more. Where at this moment more than 30 designers and artists are happy to work every day.
After finishing his study at the Design Academy it didn’t take long for him to sell his first piece from the project “Lightweight Porcelain” at Pierre Berge & associés Brussels in the auction called wishlist “Li Edelkoort”.
This year he is chosen by the Designhuis to take part in the talent 2009 exhibition, during the Dutch Design week, with both his graduation projects.
