Tijdens de open dag van Strijp-S gaan wij Strijp-X op een waardige manier afsluiten. Tussen 13.00 uur en 18.00 uur presenteren de dames van Knol-ontwerp een installatie die food design samenbrengt met interactie design.

En om de (hopelijk) warme dag af te sluiten gaan we eindigen zoals we begonnen waren, met een BBQ ondersteund door biertjes en wijntjes voor de vrienden/kennissen van StrijpX als dank voor de samenwerking van de afgelopen jaren.

Strijp-X: ‘Einde X’ (english)

During the open day of Strijp-S we will close off Strijp-X in an honorable manner. We’ve asked the ladies from Knol-ontwerp to design an installation which brings Food and Interaction together. (from 1pm to 6pm)

We’d like to end it the way we started, with a improv BBQ supported by wine and beers. As a thanks to the people that helped us during the years.

In StrijpX komen designhistorie en hedendaags ontwerp samen in een expositie voor jong en oud. Meer dan 40 design kinderstoelen worden er geëxposeerd, waarbij designklassiekers van Rietveld en Thonet naast hedendaagse ontwerpen te staan.

Ontwerpers hebben zich vaak laten inspireren door een aanstaand ouderschap of door de onbevangen speelsheid van een kind. Vele ontwerpers hebben zich dan ook gewaagd aan een design kinderstoel.  De kinderstoel is niet slechts een verschaling van de volwassen stoel, maar heeft een eigen vormgeving en is qua constructie,kleurgebruik en materiaaltoepassing even serieus te nemen als andere meubels. Dat kinderstoelen niet perse een kinderlijke uitstraling moeten hebben bewijst deze expositie.

Op het voormalige industrieterrein StrijpS in Eindhoven (waar oude glorie en innovatie elkaar ontmoeten) vindt deze expositie plaats. In deze expositie staan designklassiekers naast kinderstoelen van hedendaagse ontwerpers met de bijzondere collectie van Henk Krabbendam als uitgangspunt.

One of the first PS. Pop-up events took place this weekend in our town. The crowd was able to warm themselves with gluhwein from ‘melted’ ceramics by Eindhoven/Korean designers Joon&Jung in the Strijp-X mobile pop-up store. More info soon on the official PS. website

I’m finishing my last year at the Design Academy Eindhoven. The first part of my study, I was in the man and living department, then I went on with the man and well being department in which I will be graduating. Often my inspiration comes from remembering the time I was a kid, playing around on the farm in between animals and nature. I like to show the honest beauty of the object with pure materials. In this way I try to create a little fairytale.

By designing I want to explore new roads and I want to be surprised where these roads take me. Experimentation with materials and techniques common and not so common is paramount. To work with interesting craftspeople, other designers and innovative companies right from the start is spurring my inspiration. With the fundament of a rich craft and industrial heritage in mind I am embracing the possibilities of high tech. For my way of working I coined the term ‘cybercraft’. Conceptual design for which the Netherlands are famed at the moment is not the holy grail for me, rather is the concept an integral part of a layered product where technology and the use of material are of equal importance. When I am busy with an assignment or free work, I want to dive into the technique and I want to be able to make it myself or at least understand every single step of the creation…that is very important for me: to identify with “head and hand” with the things I create.

vérinoc lorne is a strange chicken, padling or diving through disciplines with a prolific and discordant creativity. Through internship in sustainable design, crafts practice, and her current position at li edelkoort’s studio as a design trends observer, she is in search of a direction for her professional life as a would-prefer-to-be-good-for-the-world person. With grotesque humour, the nose objects collection shown at the strijp-x pretends to question the references of our daily lives, for nose is the organe of subjective and intuitive sense in one hand, a body part of self-representation in the other hand. Beyond shapes, the collection aims at being a sparkle for thoughts and debates about the olfactive perception. smell, is currently the crucial target of commercial and political organismes, which consider the highest potential of manipulation over people through the primitive trust we grant to odor memory.

I came to the Netherlands after finish my studies in industrial design in spain , i experience two years at the design academy eindhoven and even i did an intership. I realize that some times some persons are more important for me that the sun, and i guess that’s way i am still in Eindhoven. I am interesting in the feelings and impressions that things can give to you, volumes, shadows colors ,textures…….

I currently study in Man and Living at the Design Academy. I like to work with my hands as much as conceptually. I see the human body in relation to objects and their space and how they exchange experience. With all the knowledge that mankind gathered, we are able to reflect more specificly on issues and become more sensitive the way we design, build architecture and how we place ourselves in between. Let’s do senseful, beautiful and fun at the same time!
